Salary
It is the policy of Campus Crusade for Christ International that each staff member develops a team of ministry partners to support his/her ministry. Campus Crusade’s salary structure is based on need, not on a position of leadership. All staff members, including the president, Steve Douglass, work under the same financial policies and pay scale. In order to keep our staff free from financial distractions and focused on our mission, our salary structure promotes a moderate lifestyle, longevity in ministry, and individual freedom and responsibility for staff.
Each staff member starts with a base salary which is then increased based on age, the size of family, geographic location, and tenure to arrive at a maximum salary. Staff members may then request their salary to be any amount between the minimum required salary and the maximum amount. Additional salary may be requested for special needs like the purchase of a car or college tuition for children.
In addition to salary, staff members can also reimburse ministry expenses.
- Expenses of moving to a new location
- Mileage and per diem for travel to conferences, summer assignments, and other ministry-related trips
- Costs in communicating with ministry partners
- Materials needed for ministry
- A computer and all related expenses including internet service
- Medical costs not covered by insurance, such as the deductibles and co-payments
- Conferences and summer assignments
Compensation:
The salary structure isĀ needs-based. This means that salaries are determined by the age of the staff member, length of service with the ministry, and the number of children in a family. Salaries will be adjusted for car and school loans and geographical cost of living
Staff members raise their support to cover salaries, Social Security, benefits, ministry expenses, and administrative overhead. The following are examples for staff members in three different situations.
Annual Salaries:
Singles: 20,500-25,000
Married: 20,500-25,000 (each spouse)
Families with two children: 25,000-30,000 (each spouse)
Overall Monthly Support to be Raised:
(The salaries in these examples are based upon the minimum salaries from the above chart.)
(Cities with a higher cost of living such as New York City or Los Angeles are adjusted into a support goal.)
